High Probability Selling for Sales Professionals: Turn Cold Calling into Warm Sales Leads

To grow your business you need prospective clients and customers: If you don't have a customer list from which to solicit referrals, and if you also lack an advertising/marketing budget, cold-calling to a highly targeted list is the fastest route to finding high probability prospects. Learn how.

Like most sales lead consultants, I do not advocate cold calling . However, I acknowledge that cold calling is necessary at times.

You need prospective clients and customers: If you don't have a customer list from which to solicit referrals, and you also lack an advertising/marketing budget, cold-calling to a highly targeted list is the fastest route to finding high probability prospects.

A High Probability Prospect is one who wants, needs, can afford, and is ready to buy your product or service- now. Those who only want, need, and can afford- but are not ready to buy now- are prospects that you will not meet with now. But, you will continue to contact in the future, until they are ready to buy.

How does Cold Calling fit into High Probability Prospecting?

Before picking up the phone, you need to define your target market. Your target markets are consumers and/or companies who are likely to want your product or service. If you haven't gone through the exercise of defining your target market, start by making a list of your best customers: What characteristics do they share? Are they in similar industries? Are they companies of about the same size, or in the same vertical markets? In B2C sales, look for similar socio-economic factors.

Your prospect list, whether you've created it yourself or purchased it, is the basis of your prospecting campaign. Contact each person on the list repeatedly, each time with a different offer. In High Probability Prospecting, an offer is a succinct distillation of two features of your product or service. Every time you re-contact a prospect, present a different offer.

When call your list, only first-time calls are cold calls in High Probability Prospecting. A truly effective prospecting campaign requires that you call the same list every 3 to 4 weeks, so after a short period of time, most of your calls will be 'warm' calls. A higher percentage of the people on your list will say "Yes" to your prospecting offer with each successive call.

5 Simple rules for maximum effectiveness and maximum efficiency:

  1. Don't repeat the same prospecting offer more frequently than every third call.

  2. Your offer must be no longer than 45 words, describing your product/service and mentioning two if its features.

  3. Your prospecting offer must clearly request a "Yes" or "No" answer.

  4. When prospects say "No," you say, "Okay, good-bye."

  5. When prospects say "Yes," you say, "Why?"

With practice, you should be able to make at least 50 dials per hour. You'll find an increasing number of High Probability Prospects- people who respond with 'Yes' to your offer- with each pass through your list. You'll be on your way to making appointments with people who are ready to buy what you're selling- right now.

High Probability Prospecting doesn't eliminate cold-calling entirely. You will, however, make successively fewer Cold Calls and far more "Warm Calls". That will eliminate most of the Rejection associated with cold-calling. Thus, you will turn telephone prospecting into an efficient and enjoyable activity.

Custom Packaging and Shrink Wrappings: An Important Role In Selling Your Product

When manufacturers first consider a product, they often discount the issue of packaging. They seem to think such decisions can wait until the product is ready for production.

When manufacturers first consider a product, they often discount the issue of packaging. They seem to think such decisions can wait until the product is ready for production. In many cases this may be true. However, some thought must go into packaging very early in the design process; because if a product requires custom packaging or shrink wrappings this could play a vital role in the budgeting and marketing of that product.

Let us face it, as consumers we love custom packaging. Something unique and individual that helps pull us into the world of that product. And there is something strangely wonderful about shrink wrappings. It conveys that valuable message: This product was made for you and no one else. And ripping that shrink wrapping makes us truly take ownership of the product.
However, as much as we as consumers may like these things, we as business people understand that custom packaging and even shrink wrappings bring with them unique costs that must be evaluated. Custom packaging may require the use of industrial designers, it may require extra rounds of testing; and shrinking wrappings involve an extra layer of costs which may not be required on all products.

Custom packaging may also present storage and shipping problems. A custom package may not be as easy stacked on a warehouse floor, or as easily prepared for shipping. And although custom packaging often attracts consumers, it may do the opposite. For this reason, your product may need to go through focus group testing on the custom packaging alone. Another cost.
But, on the other hand, we all know a square box can be dull; and we all know that products without shrink wrappings look "cheaper" to many consumers. So where does that leave us?
It leaves us where we often find ourselves when faced with any business decision. It leaves us forced to weigh our options. However, we think there are series of questions you might consider which can help you weigh your options in smart and efficient manner.

In regards to custom packaging, ask yourself these questions: Is your product unique? Does your product require some special understanding or explanation? Does your product appeal to an upscale market? If you answered "yes" to any or all of these questions, then we feel that custom packaging should be considered. Unique products, products which require special explanation, or upscale products can benefit from custom packaging.

In regards to shrink wrappings, ask yourself these questions: Is the product perishable or viewed as perishable? Could handling the product by others easily damage it? And does cleanness or sterility play a role in the use of your product? Again, a "yes" answer to any of these questions means you should at least consider the use of shrink wrappings.

We hope this brief article has helped you get a handle on some of the issues you need to confront when making packaging decisions. Custom packing and shrink wrappings can add value and appeal to your product, but they come with a unique set of costs. Only by properly examining your product and its customer base will you be able to determine if your product is worth this additional expense.

Buying and Selling Restaurant Equipment Equals Big Money

If you are looking to make a lot of money in a field that few people dare to dive into then you should look at buying and reselling restaurant equipment.

If you are looking to make a lot of money in a field that few people dare to dive into then you should look at buying and reselling restaurant equipment.

You can go out to local auctions or store closeouts and purchase used restaurant equipment for pennies on the dollar. You can find items such as Hobart Mixers or Beverage Air Coolers and steal them away for a couple of hundred bucks. You will need about a thousand to get a decent start in the business, but you might look for an investor to really give you business a huge push. Once you have purchased your first lot of items from your local auction then it is time to clean up the equipment and then test it. A little elbow grease will go a long way, and you can increase the worth of your product just by taking the clean the grease off of it. Then plug the item in and check to see if it works, if it does you will pull in double to triple what you paid for, and if it does not work then you can just sell it broke, and still make a couple of bucks off the item.

The biggest problem with selling restaurant equipment is space. You need to move the equipment fast enough so that you are not wasting space, and you are profiting even with the cost of storage. With that said you can always start with your garage and work up to a storage unit, and then when you are up to the big boys you can purchase a warehouse.

If you are looking to get started in business then you need to learn about the different brands, and also you need to learn everything you can about ebay. Ebay is the easiest way to branch out nationwide. You will also need to learn about freight and how to freight an item, and be sure to watch you cost. You can many times shop the different freight companies and find one that will work with you at a discount if you are going to give them a lot of return business.

I think this is one of the biggest money making businesses that you can start with low capitol, and build up. I don't believe in starting in the hole, so I would start with one auction and build up from that. I have friends in this business that I work with and they can do 25,000 in sales in a couple of days on eBay. It is important that you understand this business is a lot of hard work. But, if you work it correctly you can reap the benefits of success.

So, if you are looking for a huge return on your money, and don't mind working for it, then you should take interest in restaurant equipment. Remember buy used because it's cheaper and has a higher profit margin. EBay is your best friend in this business, and I would advise you to find someone that is doing this already and see if they will show you the rope of the business, and try to get a jump start.

Buying and selling Rare books via the internet.

The Internet is made up of thousands of tiny niche markets. Each of these niche's have specific ways of communicating with each other.

One of the most dynamic markets on the Internet right now is for books and music.

To say that there are dynamic changes taking place in the rare and collectible book market is an understatement.

At one time the ‘market’ for rare and collectible books consisted of a few hundred well known and highly respected rare book dealers and collectors who slowly and laboriously collected books in their specialty. It wasn’t too long ago that collectors wanted ‘depth’- collecting every book and piece of ephemera by a particular author or within a particular genre. A collector searching for a particular book gathered dealers catalogs, visited shops in remote corners of the world hoping to come across the book they wanted.

Collecting was a “gentleman’s” game. Dealers carefully cultivated their customers over years, helping them select books that added depth to their collections. Dealers relied on word-of-mouth and reputation to build their business. Dealers, for the most part, ‘specialized’. Book collecting was more than a hobby, it was an obsession to some.

The Internet has added liquidity to the rare and collectible book market. And liquidity is very important for any market. All it means is that, when you’re ready to sell there is a buyer, ready willing and able to buy your offering.

The Internet has also added the element of transactional speed. People are buying and selling books at a rate of speed that seems incredible by standards just a few years ago. Thousands of books are being traded daily.

Why deal in books rather than other collectible items such as figurines or art or pottery?

Books have a special place in the history of the human race. They record the history, thoughts, feelings, views, philosophy, theology and dreams and imaginings of men and women who lived before us and who live with us.

Books have shaped the way we think, live our lives and have formed the backbone of governments and world religions.

The fact that books have a special place in our lives make them, I think, more than 'collectible items'. They are an investment in the past and the future of the entire human race. Man has separated himself from animals in his ability to reason, to think and to record those thoughts in books for each generation to read.

I was as astounded, as you might be, to learn that used and out-of-print books are valuable and some are even super-valuable.

Take for example a first printing of "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland" - today worth about $725,000. Why should a simple child's book be worth so much money? Because it's "collectible"? Because it's old? Because it's a children's book? The answer is simple. And it took me sometime to accept the simplicity of it, but here it is:

"Certain books are valuable because someone wants it and is willing and able to pay the price to own it".

Collectors come in all shapes, sizes and interests and they are all over the world. Demand is huge and you’ll be surprised at the rate at which used books will sell. That doesn’t mean there aren’t slow times but books move very fast into the hands that want them.

Have You Thought About Selling Services

Article Body:

It's not widely known that it's possible to sell services on eBay, in fact there's a large category devoted to it, called ‘Speciality Services'. To give you an idea of some of the possibilities, some of the main sub-categories include:

Advice & Instruction

Artistic

Custom Clothing and Jewelry

Auction Services

Graphic & Logo design

Media editing and duplication

Printing

Restoration and repair

Web and Computer services

As you can see, there's quite a range on offer, and bear in mind that there are specific niches even within each of these main sub-categories. For example, within the ‘eBay auction services' category, there's more categories such as appraisal, listing services, packing and shipping, and shopping assistance.

I bet that either you can provide a service that falls under one of these categories, or you know of someone else whose services you could promote (and take a commission).

I would suggest that your first step is to browse these categories and see what people are offering. You'll soon see which topics are swamped with sellers thrashing each other on price, whereas others will have gaps in the market waiting to be filled by you.

Let's suppose that you have a friend that happens to be an expert at camera repair, yet in the local area his store has been struggling to find enough work.

A quick check in the ‘camera & photo' category of ‘restoration and repair' reveals just 6 listings, and only one seller seems to be a regular in that category, AND they are charging what seems to be a decent amount for the service. I would say that this represents a tremendous opportunity for someone else to come into that niche and provide a quality service.

That's just one example of how you can offer a service to a HUGE audience, easily and cheaply. I'm amazed that more sellers aren't doing this, services are such an untapped market right now on eBay.

Continuing with the camera repair example, imagine if the business owner produced some ‘camera repair' DVD training guides - simple instructions on easy maintenance tasks from an ‘insider expert', and then offered those DVD's for sale as a backend product.

They would sell loads of them, especially because the customer had recently experienced the pain of having a broken camera! It's the perfect tie-in product because the customer would no doubt want to do anything to prevent a reoccurrence, by means of preventative maintenance.

Home selling tips are everywhere – some suggesting things you might never thought of, some are general ones you’re likely to find everywhere. But just because they’re common doesn’t mean we should stop making them. Here are some home selling tips of our own:

· Getting your clutter out of the way will not only improve the home showings, but also makes it easier for you to pack your things

· Finish off whatever new constructions you’re applying with your house. No buyers would want to finish what the seller left off!

· When negotiating with the buyer, throw your bad mood away. It’s hard to discuss price when you’re still upset about the buyer’s plans to cut down the tree you love. Maintain an interactive discussion and build up trust. Even if the offer doesn’t work out, keep up a good impression.

· Don’t let buyers’ offers sway you – consult with your attorney about the price offered. Usually there’s a period of three days for you to accept or reject an offer. Also be prepared for home inspections, as usually this happens during this stage of the home selling process.

Like I said in the beginning of the article: home selling tips are endless, when you start looking for them. Choose only the tips that would best suit your needs and capacity. And if you still haven’t found one, chances are you’ll find it soon.

Computer Consulting Services: Selling the Network as Security and Data Protection

Computer Consulting Services are a security blanket for companies. Businesses will be able to control which employees have what access to files which are protected from a server designed by computer consulting services.

Keywords:

computer-consulting-services, computer consulting services

Article Body:

Small business prospects and clients may view your computer consulting services as part of their insurance policy. You write up a service agreement that lists what’s covered and what’s not, as well as various parameters for coverage. Then each month, quarter, or year you collect some kind of retainer deposit, similar to an insurance premium.

Play Up the Value of your Computer Consulting Services

Part of the reason small business owners never miss a premium is because they want to make sure that your firm will be there in their time of need. So effectively, one of the reasons small businesses hire your firm is for "security". Rather than go kicking and screaming trying to vehemently deny this, play up the value of your computer consulting services and add security and data protection into your sales pitch - as major parts of your clients’ network investments.

Superior Security Foundation

Be sure to weave some of the following security and data protection points into your computer consulting services sales presentations. In sharp contrast to a client/server network like the one you’re proposing, a peer-to-peer "server" generally isn’t capable of maintaining its own user account security database.

As a result, a standalone peer-to-peer network is limited to "share-level" access control. This means everyone that connects to this peer-to-peer "server" share point has the same user name and password. There’s no way to differentiate between access levels of users and no way to terminate an individual’s password when he or she leaves the company.

Highlight Your Computer Consulting Services

A dedicated server OS, on the other hand, provides much better control over who has access to which shared resources. Each person can be assigned his or her own user name and password. Be sure to highlight how your proposed networking solution takes this into account.

Security with your proposed networking solution is also more flexible or granular. With most peer-to-peer "servers", security can only be controlled at the share level. When a share point is set up on a dedicated server with a true NOS security can be controlled all the way down to the file level.

The Bottom Line about Computer Consulting Services

Consider adapting this file cabinet analogy for your client presentations: Would you rather grant employees unrestricted access to an entire room full of file cabinets, or just a few select hanging folders in certain file drawers which are pertinent to their job?

One of the very hardest things for a marketer of any kind to accept is that not everyone will buy their product, no matter how great they think it is. And even if someone else believes it's fabulous too, that doesn't mean they'll buy.

I play tennis not golf. So no matter how stunning the new clubs are that Tiger himself uses, I won't buy. I don't do golf. So you're better off to save your energy and find someone who DOES love golf. As obvious as this sounds, it's almost impossible for marketers to do.

Ford Motor for example, just figured this out a few months ago. I posted on 1.23.06, the day they put out through the Wall Street Journal their five point plan to "restore profitability" to the company, and to "change their mindset." Here's #5:

"Quit trying to sell Fords to people who won't buy them; focus instead on likely prospective customers."

Think of all the advertising noise this will eliminate. No more screaming at the wrong ones. What if every marketer were to adopt this strategy?

Say you're selling an insurance type of program. Who is a likely prospective customer? Here's one group: those who buy extra warranties for things they get, from calculators to computers, to warranty insurance, flood insurance, earthquake insurance. Yes, I am one of those. This group also includes people who plan vacations ahead, have retirement plans in place. The planners. Or the sudden loss set, for example, who want to be ready next time.

Start describing the group by describing yourself. Why do you have the program? Ask your existing customers why they bought. They're your customers, aren't they? They comprise a community, if you will, and isn't that who you want to go after?
Instead of doing therapy?

Say you sell nutritional supplements. Who is a likely customer? How about those who know nutrition matters and who know that they cannot get the nutrients they need from the food they eat, even if it's all organic? These folks know they need to supplement. Like me. Or those who've had a close call or recent diagnosis and are responding to their wake-up call - they're now ready to eat right and supplement.

Ask yourself why you take your supplements. Ask your steady customers (not just those who are selling). They'll give you their why's which will help describe your prospective customers.

It's a start.

Catalogs as a Way of Selling Products or Services

As a business owner it is important that your catalog should look a lot like a quality magazine printing. This way your customers will more likely keep your catalogs or keep them in the open.

Keywords:

catalog, printing, design, color

Article Body:

Catalogs generally range from small pamphlets to large bound books that contain hundreds of pages. By and large, catalogs consist of images or photos, the description of the products and their prices. If you are new to the catalog printing process there are several things you need to consider. First off, you have to carefully plan your catalog design and printing process. You need to decide what kind of catalog you want to create. Would it be a catalog for your individual customers or for other businesses? What products should you included in every page? How many pages will your catalog have? And how many catalogs will you need to be printed?

Likewise, you need to consider the printing technology that you will use. Keep in mind that using the wrong printing equipment can cause damage to the final print out. Thus, if you want high quality catalogs, asking the help of a printing company can be a good idea. You can go with you local print shop or go online and select from the hundreds of companies there the one that will do the job for you.

If you are concerned about the design of your catalog you can ask the help of a professional designer. As there is a huge amount of skill and technical knowledge needed to design and create a catalog, the services of professional graphic artists can be helpful. Make sure though to look for a company that has experience in catalog printing and designing. But when considering a company for you catalog printing, do not merely look on their styles and designs but look at the quality of their work. Chances are the past works of this company were created to match the need of their clients so their portfolio may not necessarily show the style of catalog that you are looking for. So focus more on the quality rather than on the design.

As a business owner it is important that your catalog should look a lot like a quality magazine printing. This way your customers will more likely keep your catalogs or keep them in the open. When customers do not like your catalog they will most likely keep them buried under their magazines. Keep in mind that keeping your catalog visible can increase the chance that readers will contact you immediately and place an order.

Hence, there are many things you need to consider when creating a catalog. It takes more than the need and willingness to create a good quality, professional-looking catalog. You have to have creativity, determination and patience. Likewise, you need to keep in mind what your customers need and want when producing an effective catalog. After all, it is your customers whom you created your catalog for. So, the look and feel of the catalog should reflect the mood of your products and services.

Have You Thought About Selling Fashion

eBay Selling: How To Sell On eBay & eBay Auction Seller from dot Com sites: MyAuctionAcademy & SendMyFreeGift

Keywords:

ebay, online, auction, business, Drew020

Article Body:

EBay has been referred to as the fashion capital of the internet, and with good reason. According to one ratings website, EBay's Clothing, Shoes & Accessories category is the #1 website for fashion. The site attracts well over one million buyers a month who are specifically looking for fashion-related items; these same buyers spent $2.4 billion last year alone on items from the CS&A category.

EBay is often the first port of call for buyers looking for unique, rare or limited edition fashion items that no one else has. So if you're thinking of expanding your business into another area, the fashion category of eBay is definitely worth considering. Not to mention the fact that hunting out and selling unique items that people want is actually FUN!

Once you make the decision to sell fashion-related items, there a few things that you need to bear in mind for maximum profits and a high sell-through rate.

First, be as specific as you can in your description of the item, including any flaws, color, size, measurements (waist and bust measurements are two of the most important), any history to the item (buyers love a story attached to an item), and any other details you can think of. A good rule of thumb with descriptions is that they can never be too long; buyers want to know everything (and more!) about an item. Just make sure that your descriptions are nicely laid out in a way that's pleasing to the eye and with a natural progression.

Second, take good photos. I cannot emphasize enough how important good photos are in any listing, but especially in a category such as fashion.

Many items of clothing are truly unique so the importance of a good photo that shows the true color, pattern and style of an item cannot be overstated.

Third, make your shipping and return policies clear. It may seem scary to offer a no-quibble money-back guarantee on all your items, but trust me, it will boost potential buyers confidence which in turn prompts higher bids on an item. And you will be surprised at how rarely anyone will actually take you up on your money-back guarantee. The more you can throw in with your guarantee, the better. Promise to return shipping costs as well as the purchase price of the item, including the cost the buyer has to lay out to return an item to you. Sounds a bit extravagant? Think about it – how many sellers do you know of that offer a guarantee like that? Can't think of one? Exactly. Not only will you set yourself apart from other sellers (and that is ALWAYS a good thing), you will earn yourself loyal customers who will buy from you over and over.

Another great thing about selling fashion on eBay is that it is an ever-changing marketplace with a constant demand for new products.
